Controller

Description:

Our construction industry client is searching for a Controller to join their management team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Controller with have overall responsibility for all accounting matters, cash management, month end closing, divisional consolidation and financial reporting, intercompany transactions and relevant tax issues.


Responsibilities:

  1. 1) Manage department of five in the daily and monthly accounting functions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets and general ledger transactions and reporting
  2. 2) Evaluate the finance team structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as provide individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on opportunities (where possible) of individuals
  3. 3) Establish credibility throughout the organization as an effective developer of solutions to business challenges
  4. 4) Manage and oversee all financial transactions, and ensure timely and accurate month end closings and all related financial statement preparation and reporting
  5. 5) Monitor and confirm financial condition by reviewing accounting results, providing information to external auditors and preparing reports for management
  6. 6) Oversee preparation of job costing, AIA billings, payroll tax reporting, sales and use tax returns, retention calculations, and related matters
  7. 7) Work closely with operations personnel to monitor and provide information with respect to job costs and status
  8. 8) Analyze, monitor and continually improve internal controls relative to all business functions
  9. 9) Annual budget preparation and monthly variance analysis and reporting
  10. 10) Develop and execute steps to improve monthly cash flow, through billing and collection process monitoring and upgrades
  11. 11) Interface with parent and affiliated company financial management personnel
  12. 12) Interact with customers, auditors, suppliers, vendors, employees and staff as required
  13. 13) Ensure with federal, state, and local taxation requirements including, but not limited to, Property taxes, Sales taxes, Payroll taxes, Gross Receipts taxes

Requirements:

  1. 1) 5 or more years of relevant private industry accounting experience, including supervisory
  2. 2) Bachelor’s degree in financial accounting or finance
  3. 3) Construction accounting experience, including percentage of completion accounting, AIA billing, union wage calculations, analysis and reporting, and financial statement preparation
  4. 4) Significant experience in construction industry accounting software, particularly Viewpoint Vista, is desirable

Salary:

$75,000 - $90,000 + 10-20% Bonus Potential
