Tax Director

Description:

This position is principally responsible for assisting with the identification and implementation of global tax planning initiatives as well as assisting with mergers & acquisitions projects, including fact and data gathering, due diligence, research and analysis, implementation and follow up/maintenance. In addition, the position will also assist on the US federal income tax audit as well as other tax audits that occur worldwide. This important role will work cohesively with the tax planning teams located in Connecticut, Europe, and Asia as well as, other finance, legal and operations individuals throughout the organization.


Responsibilities:

  1. • Assist with all aspects of the global tax planning function, including identification of proper entity types, favorable structures and anticipated cash and effective tax rate impact.
  2. • Work on acquisitions and divestitures which involve the structuring of an acquisition/divestiture, due diligence and any related integration activities.
  3. • Responsible for preparing and/or reviewing computations necessary to properly analyze various tax planning opportunities, including, but not limited to; foreign tax credits, earnings and profits and tax pools of foreign subsidiaries, book and tax basis calculations (for both stock and assets), foreign sourced income and related expense allocations, and the anticipated local foreign and U.S. tax impact of the intended transactions.
  4. • Understand and contribute towards the evaluation of the tax planning strategies on cash flows and other Treasury related items (hedging transactions, debt structures, etc.).
  5. • Assist the Tax Reporting function with tax accounting issues relating to planning strategies and acquisitions.
  6. • Work directly with the tax accounting team to identify the possible impact, if any, of transactions or other items on the Company’s FIN48 positions.
  7. • Interface with the Tax Compliance group to explain the details of tax planning strategies and of acquisitions/divestitures to allow for the proper reporting on the Company’s income tax filings.
  8. • Assist in providing analysis and information regarding transfer pricing issues.
  9. • Become actively involved in understanding the many businesses of the Company, including supply chain structures, other intercompany transactions and financing arrangements while attempting to identify opportunities for cash and/or effective tax rate opportunities.

Requirements:

  1. • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with an advanced degree in taxation or a JD with an LLM in taxation.
  2. • A CPA certificate
  3. • Have a minimum of 7 years of relevant tax experience either in industry or with a law firm/public accounting firm.
  4. • Be proficient with Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Experience with enterprise software such as SAP or HFM is highly desirable, but not required.
  5. • Be effective working independently as well as in a team environment.
  6. • Experience managing projects.

Salary:

$150,000 - $200,000 Plus 20-40% Bonus Potential
