Description:

Our client is a fast growing retail company that doubled the size of its business in the past year. They are seeking a detail oriented candidate to work directly with our CFO. This organized, self-starter Controller will have exposure to multiple types of business typically gained through public audit experience. This accounting professional will partner with the accounting team and operations management to effectively produce periodic financial reports and analyze the business. The position will coordinate with internal and external sources, such as company accounting staff, operations management, tax, audit, banking and other resources to fulfill position responsibilities including general accounting, receivables, payables, cost accounting, business analysis, financial reporting, sales management, and accounting systems computer operations. This position will also assist the CFO and/or owners to create customizing Excel spreadsheets that provide business analysis. This highly entrepreneurial company provides considerable advancement opportunity for those who are ready to demonstrate their strong contribution to our business. CPA is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities:

  1. 1) Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes
  2. 2) Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
  3. 3) Provides accounting support for mergers and acquisitions by reviewing financial information; converting data to general ledger system; obtaining supplementary information for preparing financial statements
  4. 4) Prepare journal entries and monthly account balance reconciliations
  5. 5) Generate and analyze monthly balance sheets and P&Ls; scrutinize any unusual fluctuations in account balances
  6. 6) Resolve questions of GAAP and internal controls with company executive and financial management
  7. 7) Support external audit requests
  8. 8) Assist CFO and CEO with special projects

Requirements:

  1. 1) BS in Accounting, CPA preferred but not required
  2. 2) 5+ years' experience in accounting (at least 3 years in public accounting)
  3. 3) Thoroughly organized, paired with ability to work independently
  4. 4) Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office applications, especially Excel
  5. 5) Strong knowledge of GAAP
  6. 6) Deadline-Oriented, time management, confidentiality and attention to detail

Salary:

$90,000 - $130,000 + Bonus
