Director – Investment Accounting

Description:

Support investment accounting and reporting on a GAAP and statutory basis for the Company's insurance company portfolios. Responsibilities include supervision of staff, technical accounting issues and analysis of diversified asset classes, and the related investment income for financial reporting purposes.

Responsibilities:

1. 1) Manage the accounting and reporting of investment holdings, including data reconciliation; develop and maintain reporting used in monthly, quarterly and annual filings.
2. 2) Oversee direct reports, including review of their work product.
3. 3) Manage GAAP and Statutory analysis related to debt and equity securities, private equity/prove placements, and other financial instruments, including analysis of fair and book values, unrealized gains/losses, other comprehensive income and impairments.
4. 4) Oversee the preparation of footnotes for quarterly and annual GAAP and Statutory financial statements including review of disclosure input prepared by others, working closely with the Corporate Accounting area.
5. 5) Responsible for ensuring all accounting, footnotes and Statutory filings are in accordance with GAAP and Regulatory requirements.
6. 6) Identify opportunities and make recommendations to gain efficiencies and integrate processes where applicable.
7. 7) Maintain appropriate internal controls over investment accounting and related financial reporting.
8. 8) Perform other duties and special projects.

Requirements:

1. 1) Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA a plus
2. 2) 5-7 years of audit or accounting experience, current or former public accounting preferred
3. 3) Solid understanding of GAAP accounting and reporting requirements (investment specific and/or Statutory accounting a plus)
4. 4) Strong technical accounting experience
5. 5) Ability to lead, direct and mentor staff
6. 6) Strong interpersonal skills

Salary:

$120,000 - $145,000 + 10% Bonus Potential
