Manager – Technical Accounting

Description:

Responsible for leading the accounting research function, which also includes the maintenance of all accounting policies and certain corporate policies that include accounting matters. This role interfaces with the external auditor on ensuring that the Company applies the correct accounting to material, judgmental accounting matters, including but not limited to complex contracts, and new and/or unusual transactions. The resources in this group will also assist with peak time financial reporting responsibilities, as needed - usually at year end.

Responsibilities:

1. • Develops and implements departmental policies as they relate to the accounting research function.
2. • Manages the staff of the research and policy’s function.
3. • Reviews complex transactions for applicable accounting guidance and coordinates with personnel initiating the transaction: Tax, FP&A, Financial Reporting, and others.
4. • Manages the process to obtain agreement from our external auditors on our accounting for complex transactions.
5. • Manages the implementation of new accounting guidance from FASB and SEC.
6. • Manages the review, updating, and publication of accounting policies and corporate policies owned by the Chief Financial Officer.
7. • Manages the review process, approval, and storage of accounting research documents.
8. • Manages resources loaned to the Financial Reporting group during peak work times for Financial Reporting.

Requirements:

1. • Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), standard accounting policies, procedures, and practices
2. • Knowledge and experience with financial statement preparation
3. • Knowledge and experience with financial management procedures and techniques
4. • Knowledge of SEC reporting rules and regulations
5. • Ability to effectively lead, manage and develop a diverse workforce.
6. • Extensive resourcefulness to anticipate, define and direct solutions to complex and/or unusual accounting, finance and/or regulatory issues related to the business area.
7. • Extensive analytical skills, including the ability to draw sound conclusions and act decisively.
8. • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or closely related field required; CPA designation is preferred.

Salary:

$150,000 - $175,000 + 15% Target Bonus
