Senior SOX Accountant

Description:

The Senior Accountant position supports the SOX Program Office in the Finance / Accounting Department under the CFO Group. This role is primarily responsible for processing the SOX Compliance documentation, and maintaining the SOX working relationship with business units and auditors. The position is also responsible for developing an understanding of SOX risk assessments, department procedures, and strategies to assess and mitigate financial risk. This position reports to the VP of SOX Administration.


Responsibilities:

  1. 1. Maintain the SOX Access database ensuring that all key controls and risk assessments are properly identified.
  2. 2. Coordinate and compile the quarterly SOX 302 / 404 management certifications ensuring a complete, accurate, and timely filing.
  3. 3. Assess effectiveness of SOX key controls in mitigating financial risk for the Company. Identify and communicate potential weaknesses as well as recommendations to improve the control environment.
  4. 4. Develop and maintain SOX liaison relationship with Business Units, Internal and External Audit.
  5. 5. Assist in the development and/or updating of SOX programs to ensure that they are current and compliant with Corporate and Regulatory policies.
  6. 6. Ensure SOX requirements are documented in policies and procedures impacting financial reporting. Assist in the design of appropriate internal controls regarding new business processes.
  7. 7. Perform other duties as directed by the VP of SOX Administration (i.e. Metrics Reporting and Annual SOX Risk Assessment).
  8. 8. Participate as an integral part of the team, exhibiting ownership, follow-through, initiative, and effective communication.

Requirements:

  1. • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  2. • 2+ years accounting experience in public accounting or the financial services industry. CPA preferred but not required.
  3. • Proficient in Microsoft Access, Excel, Word and PowerPoint software. Knowledge of SharePoint and Lotus Notes a plus.
  4. • Able to work independently with minimal oversight; yet, understanding the need for teamwork and prompt escalation of issues.
  5. • Knowledge of SOX 302 / 404 reporting, accounting, and business processes.
  6. • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.

Salary:

$65,000 - $80,000
